Japanese Visit 2017

Japanese Visit 2017

Thank you to the host families who generously opened their homes to our Japanese students. This year, 12 students from Owari-Asahi visited for six days and thoroughly enjoyed experiencing the life of a typical Australian teenager. The students spent a day shadowing their host student from class to class comparing school life in Australia to that in Japan. Many families went to a lot of effort to show their guest as much of Victoria as possible, including visits to Victoria Market, the Melbourne Star and Sovereign Hill.  The visit to Healesville Sanctuary was a highlight, the Japanese students enjoying the opportunity of getting up and close and personal with some Australian animals. It was obvious that lifelong friendships were formed by the emotional goodbyes on the last day. I hope the Australian students keep in contact with their Japanese student and possibly one day make the journey to Japan to visit them.

Special thanks to Mr Lascelles who accompanied the group on all the activities and spent quality time with the Japanese teachers.
